Tonight I am thinking about the beauty of being touched.  Many people have touched me in my life, physically, emotionally, spiritually.  They were The Hands of Jesus extended.

Jesus touched people.  He touched people others would not come near.  He touched lepers, the blind, the lame.  He touched people we don’t even know about.  He washed dirty feet.

As a nurse I remember taking care of patients who were isolated for various diseases.  The most painful part of their illness was often just that … isolation.  No one wanted to come near.  No one wanted to touch them.

In this current season of spreading illness, many have been formally isolated.  But in  sense, many more have chosen isolation as the “new normal.”  We are afraid of each other.  We see each other as a potential danger.  Even a simple handshake might be deadly.  Hugs are even more rapidly disappearing.  Even socialization is disappearing.

What has happened to our world?  And what do we do now?

I would neither blame our current crisis on God or

satan.  But know this.  Satan delights in separating people.  He loves to get people to blame God.  And he is ecstatic when people are filled with fear.

God loves.  His Power is revealed fully when we are united in Him in Spirit and Truth.  He said repeatedly not to fear.  And yes, He revealed specifically what it will take for Him to heal His World.

“if my people, who are called by My Name will humble themselves and pray and seek My Face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

2 Chronicles 7:14

It starts with us.  May we humble ourselves, pray, seek His Face, and ask His Forgiveness for anything that has tried to separate us from Him.  And then may we see His World, as He does, through the eyes of compassion.

We may not touch the world physically, but we can touch them spiritually.  When we are willing to touch, we become a conduit for His Power to flow.  And others will feel His Touch wherever they are.

Begin with letting Him touch you.  Join in this song.
