How important is it for people to pray for others?
It is very important. First of all, with a prayer request, the requester is inviting us to come into The Presence of God. That is a Gift.
But it is important to know some key points about collective prayer.
Sometimes people believe that the more people they have pleading their case with God, the more likely He will give them what they want.
God does not work on “majority rules.”
Sometimes when people say, “Let’s pray in agreement,” they mean “let’s all agree on how we think this thing should turn out and tell God what we have decided.”
Praying in agreement means everyone agreeing with God. No matter how many of
us there are, He still has the majority vote.
How do we know what He is going to do, so we can agree with Him?
Study His Word. See what He promised. Claim His Promises with no restrictions.
All too often we try to make God fit our circumstances. We take His Word and then try to shrink it down to what we want. But His Plans are much bigger than we can think or imagine.
Whatever happens, God is going to love you. No matter what you do, He is going to remain faithful to you.
I have loved you with an Everlasting Love; therefore I have continued My Faithfulness to you.
Jeremiah 31:3
Whatever happens, God has a Plan for you and it is for your good.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11
Whatever happens, God wants you to have a full life. But don’t limit Him to life in just this earthly body.
I came to give Life — Life that is full and good.
John 10:10
He wants you to have peace, even in a troubled world.
Peace I leave with you; My Peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
John 14:27
He wants you to have so much joy that it overflows.
I have told you these things so that you will be filled with My Joy. Yes, your joy will overflow.
John 15:11
There is nothing more powerful than those who are united in The Lord, ready to receive everything He has promised, in whatever way He chooses to give it.
Jesus prayed that we would be one, just as He and The Father were One.
John 17:21
Whoever is united with The Lord is one with Him in spirit.
1 Corinthians 6:17
Whoever you are praying for … I invite you to pray this prayer for them, for me and for yourself.
Father God, Lord of The Universe, our Creator and Sustainer …
