Many people select a word that they hope will define or inspire them in the coming year.

I joined those who follow this tradition some years ago.  It had an amazing effect on my life.  Through the year, I would meditate on my word.  God used it to transform me.

The first year I chose “always,” reminding me that whatever what was happening, wherever I was, God was with me always.

This year, as I prayed about my word, God has led me to choose “Hope.”

As I have searched The Bible, I find it is literally overflowing with Hope.  I have only begun to mine the gold, but already I feel Hope rising up inside me.

The best New Year’s Gifts I can give each of you is to share some of the words of Hope both the Old and New Testament writers shared.

Wherever you go this year, whatever your circumstances, never lose The Blessed Hope of God.

Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your HOPE on The Grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at His Coming.

1 Peter 1:13

Christ in you, the HOPE of glory.

Colossians 1:27

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the HOPE to which He has called you, the riches of His Glorious Inheritance in His holy people,

Ephesians 1:18

Let us hold unswervingly to the HOPE we profess, for He Who promised is faithful.

Hebrews 10:23

Those who HOPE in The Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 40:31

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares The Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you HOPE and a future.”

Jeremiah 29:11

But God will never forget the needy; the HOPE of the afflicted will never perish.

Psalm 9:18

May Your Unfailing Love be with us, Lord, even as we put our HOPE in You.

Psalm 33:22

As for me, I will always have HOPE; I will praise You more and more.

Psalm 71:14

I wait for The Lord, my whole being waits, and I have put my HOPE in His Word.

Psalm 130:5

And HOPE does not disappoint, because God’s Love has been poured out into our hearts through The Holy Spirit, Who has been given to us.

Romans 5:5

In this HOPE we were saved.  But HOPE that is seen is not HOPE at all.  Who hopes for what they already have?

May The God of HOPE fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with HOPE by The Power of The Holy Spirit!

Romans 15:13
