My father said when someone told him he looked just like he did twenty years ago, he was flattered at first. And then when he thought about it, he wondered if they were saying he looked that old twenty years ago. 😳

At age 96, my father chuckled at people who thought they were old in their 70s or 80s. He said, “They’re just kids!”

Age is truly just a number. That number does not always reflect a person’s true age. It is a number compared to the ages of other people who had a long assignment on earth.

But the truth is that babies who have only a few days to live are already old in earth time. And those we might consider old in earth years may have many years left on earth. When my father was 65, he had a lifetime of 31 years left on earth.

And the wonder of it all is that what we call earth death is really not the end of our days at all. Eternity awaits where we will never again be bound by age barriers.

“But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.”
2 Peter 3:8
