I like to plan things and carry them out. With each thing that goes as planned, I get a feeling of security.

I start to believe I am in control. If things do not go as I planned, I relentlessly review what went wrong, in an effort to be sure it never goes wrong again.

However, my life, as well as everyone else’s life, has been a series of unplanned events … some pleasant surprises … some overwhelming disasters.

Living in the COVID world has brought many things none of us could have ever predicted. Even now, planning has gone out the window.

So what is life all about? Forrest Gump pondered that very question.

He said, “I don’t know if we each have a destiny, or if we’re all just floatin’ around accidental-like on a breeze, but I, I think maybe it’s both. Maybe both is happenin’ at the same time.”

The real answer is God had a Plan … a Destiny … for each one of us before we were born. And He knows that Plan.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
Jeremiah 29:11

He will reveal The Plan to us a little bit at a time, as we use our free will to make choices about how to live in whatever circumstances we find ourselves.

And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.
Isaiah 30:21

He will guide us to our destiny.

The more we are in tune with Him, the easier it will be to hear His Voice … and we will take the right road more often.

God’s Perfect Will and our free will are happening at the same time.

The writer of Proverbs said it well.

People can plan what they want to do, but it is The Lord who guides their steps!
Proverbs 16:9 ERV
