I have long believed the secret of a long lasting marriage is loving the person who is present today.
We have each been different versions of ourselves in the 45 years we have been married. Neither of us is the same today as the person we were when we married.
We did not grow or evolve at the same time or in the same way. There were often “growing pains” and frustrated cries of “who are you?”
We are still learning that we are not created in each other’s image. We are created in The Image of God. That does not mean we are God. But it does mean God is continuing His Creative Process to make us more recognizable as being created in His Image.
When we look at each other as new people who are gifts being unwrapped, there is pleasant anticipation.
Perhaps if we looked at everyone in that way, the world would be a better place.
Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
