When a couple of John’s disciples started shadowing Jesus, He asked them an important question.

“What do you want?”

He wanted them to consider whether they simply wanted a quick answer that would scratch their itch of curiosity or whether they were true seekers of much more.

When they responded by asking Him where he was staying, He said, “Come and see.”

He was inviting them, not only to hang out with Him, but to see the world as He did.

Matthew recorded the story of two blind men who pleaded for mercy from Jesus.  We would think it would be obvious what they wanted.

But Jesus asked them, “What do you want me to do for you?”

He knew what they needed was more than physical sight.  They needed deeper healing that would allow them to see the world in a whole different way.

If you had an up close and personal encounter with Jesus and He asked you, “What do you want?”, what would you answer?

Is it healing, freedom from physical and emotional pain?

Is it a return of someone you lost?

Is it True Love?

Is it a restored relationship with someone special to you?

Is it fame and lots of money?

Is it all the above and much more?

If you could only ask for one thing, what would it be?  What do you really want?

When we are willing to give up our limited wants and truly seek The One Who is willing to give us far more, a whole new world opens.  We see life differently.

What do I want?  Jesus.  Just Jesus, Who can look past my wants and give me everything I need!

Because The Lord is my shepherd, I have everything I need.

Psalm 23:1

Now to Him Who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His Power that is at work within us, to Him  be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

Ephesians 3:20-21
