I have tried desperately to age gracefully.  Even as one issue after another has challenged me in recent years, I have tried to keep the sunny side up.

There have been some perks with aging. Senior discounts.  Getting a pay check without having to go to work

But believe me, I paid my dues for many years to get the retirement perk.  And some of those years should have given me five years credit for one because of the stress and uncounted hours I worked while not officially on the clock!

But there has been one stand out inequity in the aging process.  It is simply not fair.  When I was younger, the tooth fairy faithfully made her rounds and blessed me every time I lost a tooth.  She still comes today for our five year old grandson.

But not for me.  I have tried to contact her through my dentist, but she claims they have no connection.

I have asked my grandson to leave her a note.  She treats him well, but ignores my request.

Due to an autoimmune condition, I have lost one tooth after another over the past five years.  But I have not had even one visit from the tooth fairy.  Not even a sympathy card.

As I am now down to only one remaining tooth, I began looking at just the financial implications of this discriminatory practice against older people.

While my grandson is receiving money for losing teeth, I am having to pay money to give up my teeth.  There is certainly something off with that.

If the tooth fairy has had my money all this time, then certainly she owes me interest.

And finally, I have come to realize how many teeth I actually did not take home with me.  I left them with the dentist.  The dentist I have now would never do anything underhanded, but some of the ones I have seen in the past could be suspect.

Are they collecting teeth and getting rewards from the tooth fairy?  Sounds like a racket.  Get money from the patient and the tooth fairy?

I never thought all those over forty birthday cards that gave doomsday predictions of losing your teeth in old age were funny.   But now I am living the life.

My prized wisdom tooth bit (no pun intended) the dust yesterday.  The tooth fairy should pay me extra for that one since it contained all that treasure of wisdom!

The tooth fairy will have one more chance to redeem herself in July when my last natural tooth goes.  I hope she pays up because those store bought choppers are not cheap.

Looking forward to brighter smiles ahead.  I am posting a picture of my grandson who looks way cuter than me with a missing tooth.  And he is happy because the tooth fairy still comes to see him!
