Follow Me!

If I were to tell you that your response to a two word sentence could radically change your life for the better, would you be interested?    It’s true!  A simple search of the NIV New Testament gives 23 times Jesus said specifically or by reference, “Follow Me!”.

In the following “interview”, Jesus answers questions from a potential follower.  Maybe you have the same questions.

Question:  Can I trust You?  I want to go to heaven.  Can You take me there?

Jesus’ Answer:  I am the Way and the Truth and the Life.

No one comes to the Father except through Me.

John 14:6

Question:  I know You and God have it all together for You, but what about me?  Will You take me on a path that is a good one for me?

Jesus’ Answer:  For I know the Plans I have for you, 

Plans to prosper you and not to harm you,

 Plans to give you hope and a future.

Jeremiah 29:11

Question:  Wait a minute … You know the Plans You have for me?  Are You ever going to tell me what they are?

Jesus’ Answer:  I will give you just enough Light for your feet, so you can see the next step.  

My Word is a Light unto your feet and a Lamp for your path.

Psalm 119:105

Question:  So will I ever know any further than my next footstep?

Jesus’ Answer:  If you lift your hands up to Me, I’ll pick you up.

Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.

Jeremiah 33:3

Question:   Why do I have to follow all the time?  Why can’t I lead?  After I sort of get my bearings, I’d like to make the plan.  But it would be great to have You follow along, in case I need You.

Jesus’ Answer:  You’re pretty smart, but get real.

You don’t have all the Knowledge I do!

Would you let your toddler drive the car while you rode with him?

He probably thinks he can do it just fine, but you know better.

My Thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My Ways!

Isaiah 55:8

Question:  I know me.  Sometimes I don’t listen and I get too far off the beaten path.  There are so many things that distract me.  What if I get lost?

Jesus’ Answer:  How gracious I will be when you cry for help!

As soon as I hear, I will answer you!

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a Voice behind you, saying, “This is the Way; walk in it!”

Isaiah 30:19-21

Question:   If it gets dark, how will I know it’s You I’m following and not someone else?

Jesus’ Answer:  Not a problem.  I am the Light of the World!

Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the Light of Life!

John 8:12

My Sheep listen to My Voice; I know them, and they follow Me!

John 10:27

Question  (Not a Question):   OK, this sounds good.  I’ve just got a few things to do before I can commit to this kind of thing.  I’ll catch up with You later when I’m finished doing my things.  Thanks for the info.

Jesus’ Answer:  There is no time to waste!

My Disciples became My Disciples because they were ready to go when I called.

You can’t be wishy washy about this.

He who is not with Me is against Me!

JESUS’ ANSWER:  Follow Me!
