What scares you? Perhaps the bravest (or those who are good at faking) can answer, “Nothing!”

The truth is everyone has been frightened at some point in life. Sometimes we are able to push the fear away or temporarily distract ourselves, but fear is remarkably resilient and persistent, popping up again and again in various forms.

If we were brave enough to look closer at what is beneath the surface of our fears, we might find a common root.

We have an idea of how we want our life to be. We try to do things to assure our life will be just as we ordered. Anything that threatens our plan makes us afraid. Sometimes fear does not look whimpy. It looks angry.

If we dare to look even a little deeper, we will find our lack of control brings into sharp focus one undeniable Truth. While we can make choices that affect our course in life, we cannot control every aspect of life.

We cannot control the winds and waves, but we can set the sail and call upon He Who is The Master of everything.

At the bottom of every fear is the realization that we are not God. As we run from place to place in panic, it is His Voice that speaks above any fear.

“Be still and know that I am God!”
Psalm 46:10

When we understand that we are not God and He is, we come back to our free choice. Will we choose to trust Him with The Life that He created for us?

When Peter failed in his water walking attempt and Jesus rescued him, Jesus had one question for Peter.

“Why did you doubt Me?”
Matthew 14:31 (NLT)

When we doubt things will turn out well, we are not doubting ourselves or anyone else. We are doubting Him!

Will everything turn out according to our plan? Maybe not. Will it turn out according to His Plan? Always!

“For I know The Plans I have for you,” declares The Lord, “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, Plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11

He is God and He has The Plan that assures He is working all things together for our good. He loves us completely.

When we love Him completely and trust Him completely, we will find The Glory in being in the center of His Perfect Love.

“There is no fear in Love. But Perfect Love drives out fear!”
