Do you have unfinished business? Sometimes we take the first steps toward accomplishing our dreams, but something happens and we never get there.
We get tired. We get distracted. It takes longer than we thought.
We start doubting our dream was really real.
We start thinking perhaps we misunderstood God and this dream is not meant for us.
We start wondering if the dream was for us, but we have done something to displease God and He took it back.
We get mad. We get discouraged. We quit.
However, if God gives us a dream, He will never take it back. If He gave us a dream, we can be sure He will give us everything we need to fulfill it.
“God never changes His Mind when He gives gifts or when He calls someone.”
Romans 11:29 (GW)
He chose each of us for a specific purpose. We were sent to earth on a Mission. Jesus confirmed it.
“I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit — fruit that will last — and so that whatever you ask in My Name The Father will give you.”
John 15:16
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Ephesians 2:10
So what keeps us from finishing the work God has for us to do?
We fail to finish what God has called us to do because we are not finished with with all we have chosen to do.
We are not finished with sinning yet. We try, but our addictions pull us back so easily.
We are not ready to forgive everyone. And even if we say we forgive, we are not ready to forget yet.
We have too much pride to ask everyone to forgive us. We hate admitting we did anything wrong.
We are not ready to trust God with everything yet. We are not finished with wanting to follow our own agenda. We are simply not finished!
But Jesus wanted us to be finished with our old life, so we could get back to the Life we were created to have. When He endured all the wages of sin that satan unloaded on Him, Jesus was saying, “I’m finishing this fight for you. You can be finished with everything that hinders you.”
“Go now and leave your life of sin.”
John 8:11
When Jesus proclaimed from the cross, “it is finished!” He was waiting for the echoes all through time to Eternity.
Will you add your commitment in response? What things do you need to be finished with? Ask Jesus to help you identify them and relinquish them.
Jesus is “The Author and Finisher of our faith.”
Hebrews 12:2
When you trust Him to “finish” you, you will be able to live the dream God gave you. And when you complete your assignment on earth, you will be able to join Jesus in saying,
“I have brought You Glory on earth by finishing the work You gave me to do.”
John 17:4
Thanks Carolyn.
A very practical word.
God bless,
Tom
This verse of the day from Bible Study Tools affirms your point, Carolyn:
1 Chronicles 28:20 20 David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished.
We FEAR and we HIDE yet we just need to just “do the work”; We need not be afraid or discouraged for the LORD God, our God, is with us. He is with us until ALL the work He has for us is finished.
Your willingness to share God’s word is inspiring– Thank you, Carolyn!
