Ever wonder why you are here? We are here for basic training.
God has a specific Plan for us. He said, “I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
In fact, God has been planning for you since before you were born. God knew us before we were even in our mother’s womb.
David said, “Your Eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”
God took our unformed body …our spirits … and put us in a human body. That body was specially designed for the living conditions on this planet.
I believe earth is our basic training ground. It is here we learn how to use all the talents God has given us.
What He has planted grows within us. The Master Gardener nourishes, fertilizes and prunes us.
He teaches us. He gives us tests. He gives us more than enough blessings to cover any wounds from earth battles.
It is on earth that we learn to trust and obey. It is here we learn to forgive. It is here we learn to love.
Why are we here? We are being prepared for Heaven. After we have graduated from our basic training, we will be ready to go to work in the kingdom.
I do not believe Heaven will consist of just sitting around with family and friends on clouds.
I believe we will experience the full joy of being out of the body suit … free of the training wheels … able to freely move from place to place in every time and place and do the good works for which He is now preparing us.
The poet, Rudyard Kipling, envisioned that day when he wrote,
“When Earth’s last picture is painted and the tubes are twisted and dried,
When the oldest colours have faded, and the youngest critic has died,
We shall rest, and faith, we shall need it – lie down for an aeon or two,
Till the Master of All Good Workmen Shall put us to work anew.”
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
So, use your earth training time wisely as God prepares you for what will come next. Graduation Day is going to be awesome and you will be headed home!
