Jesus told of His coming death and resurrection at least three times, complete with details.
So you would think His Followers would be joined together in eager expectation after His Crucifixion. He would be back soon!
But they were not. They were drowning in fear and doubt.
When the tomb was empty, they were shocked. When Jesus appeared to them, they could hardly believe it was really Him.
When the angel came to those at the tomb, he sounded surprised that they were surprised.
Hadn’t The Lord told them He would not be in the tomb?
“Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen!”
He went on reminding them of what Jesus had told them.
“Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’ ”
Luke 24:5-7
He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.
Matthew 28:6
How many other things has Jesus told us that we seem to have forgotten? Perhaps things that we reason just can’t be true … can’t be right … was not said for us … was not meant for this time.
When Jesus walked a wet Peter across the water, He asked him one simple question.
“Why did you doubt Me?”
Matthew 14:31
We have just completed a season of anticipation of Jesus’ coming. Today many shout the glad alleluias of “He has risen.”
The Truth is He was here with us from the beginning, has been with us every moment and will be with us forever. Celebrate His Presence!
Just as you really did not have to wait until Easter to welcome Him, you don’t have to wait for “The Second Coming” to see Him.
He is here now with you always. He will reveal Himself to you in many different ways. He promised we will actually see Him.
And one day, yes, there will be a revelation so profound that every eye will see Him, every knee will bow, every tongue confess that He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords!
But those who believe can see Him now.
Before long, the world will not see Me anymore, but you will see Me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in My Father, and you are in Me, and I am in you.
John 14:19-20
Father, I want those You have given Me to be with Me where I am, and to see My Glory, The Glory You have given Me because You loved Me before the creation of the world.
Righteous Father, though the world does not know You, I know You, and they know that You have sent Me. I have made You known to them, and will continue to make You known in order that The Love You have for Me may be in them and that I Myself may be in them.
John 17:24-26
Be sure of this. I am with you always!
Mathew 28:20
Look around. Look within. He is risen, risen indeed!
