I never knew my father’s father. He died many years before I was born. My mother said her favorite memory was of him sitting on their front porch, singing hymns.
My mother loved to sing. Even now, as I sit in my rocking chair, sometimes I am carried back to the time she rocked me and sang me to sleep.
We sang in the church choir together. She was a soprano. I was an alto. Sometimes we would practice at home. I loved the spontaneous duets.
I love to sing. When I sing, I feel connected to God. He sings to me and I sing to Him. Not only that, He connects me with all the other singers, past, present and future.
Music is God’s Great Connection with His Universe. In fact, God sings in delight when He looks at what He created. He sings in joy over you!
“The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His Love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”
God gave bits of His Song to song writers who shared them. They left their foot prints in musical notes.
We get to follow them through time and space and thus all who hear the song are connected, just as The Great Song Writer intended.
I love Gloria Gaither’s description of what a glorious time we will have when all God’s singers get home!
I invite you to listen and join the anticipation of the great reunion to come!
