We were at a show at Disney World.  All eyes were turned toward the stage.  We enjoyed a wonderful presentation.

But the finale of the show was very unexpected.  No one had noticed there were curtains all around the theater.  The curtains were pulled back and the show concluded with a stunning presentation all around us.

I wonder if heaven and earth are like that.  Perhaps they are already one.  We just don’t realize it.  As we are focused on all our earth activities, we don’t realize Heaven is all around us.

We don’t expect it and so we don’t look for the evidence of it.  The next time we went to that show, we smiled because we knew the secret that would soon be revealed.

When Jesus was baptized, when He came up out of the water, The Heavens were opened to Him.

Matthew 3:16

When Stephen was stoned, he saw the Heavens open.

Acts 7:56

When John had The Revelation, he was invited to come up into Heaven.

Revelation 4:1

Jacob had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. There above it stood the Lord.

Genesis 28:12-13

Jesus promised Nathaniel he would see Heaven open and the angels of God ascending and descending on Him.

John 1:51

Referring to the marriage relationship, Jesus said in the resurrection we would not be married, but we would be “like angels of God in heaven.”

Matthew 22:30

So I wonder if that applies to being like angels in all ways, including being able to move freely around Heaven and earth.  Angels are described ascending and descending.

I wonder if those who have shed their earthly bodies can freely move about in both heaven and earth.

Perhaps that is part of the joy of Heaven — being able to fully explore the parts of earth we never saw in this body.  Wow!  What a thought!  There are so many places I would love to see.

If that is true, not only does it preview a glorious future for us, it also means our loved ones who have been promoted to Heaven may be much closer than we thought.

They may be with us right now, not waiting in some far off heaven, but alive in their transformed bodies right here and now.

Even better than being like angels, John says we will be like Jesus.  That will top everything!

We know that when Christ appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

1 John 3:2

But in the meantime, we can look for glimpses of Heaven all around us.

Your Kingdom come on earth as it is in Heaven!

Matthew 6:10
