From the beginning of time, God showed the contrasts in life.
Day and night. Light and darkness.
Good and evil. Truth and lies.
Blessings and curses. Life and death.
Faith and doubts. Hope and despair.
Peace and anxiety. Courage and fear.
Joy and sorrow. Victory and defeat.
In this world, it is likely we will see all of those, often at the same time.
We don’t know which to feel. It is confusing to feel more than one at once.
My recent health issues have brought multiple feelings all at the same time.
God tells me this is still part of my training. When I have whined that I did not know how to feel, He said, “What you feel depends on what you see.”
This seemed like a puzzling thing to say, especially since my current issue has to do with sight. But I must remember God is working on strengthening my spiritual sight.
He reminded me of a picture where if you look at it one way, you see an old woman. If you look at it from another angle, you see a young girl.
Once you see one, it is hard to see the other one. God reminded me that if I look for Him in all circumstances, the scary things I have been seeing will begin to fade.
He says the more I practice looking for Him, the more I will see Him.
However, He did not sugar coat it. He says I have a choice. I can see the world’s version or His Version.
In my spirit, God took me to the cross. It was horrible. I shuttered at the thought of Jesus and others who suffered that way.
God gave me time to think about it again. But then He did a miraculous thing.
I saw Jesus come down from that cross and push it backwards. It fell to the earth and as I looked, the view completely changed.
What was once an instrument of torture became a road leading to God. Jesus walked that road and said, “Follow Me.”
The cross became The Way!
Not only do I need to absorb that message in my life, we need to proclaim The Joy of its Truth.
Suffering is real. We will have trouble in this world.
But we can be assured God will change every cross into The Way to Him. We only have to trust Him and keep seeing what He sees.
What do you see? The cross or The Way?
I have set before you Life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose Life!
