Do you want to see God’s Glory? Many of us would say a quick, “Yes!”
There were many throughout the Bible who got to see God’s Glory. There was just one catch. They had to make a journey to see it. And the trip to Glory was not always glorious.
I am sure they wondered at times if they were really on the right road.
Jonah’s trip to Glory began in the belly of a whale.
Moses’ trip to glory began by a mother giving him up and sending him out into unknown territory where he was raised in a foreign culture.
Shadrack, Meshack and Abendago began their trip in a firey furnace.
The Israelites began with slavery and being backed up against the Red Sea with their enemies advancing and no way out.
Joseph began his trip by being kidnapped and enslaved.
David, the one called a man after God’s own heart, had various distressing experiences interwoven with peeks at God’s Glory.
Stephen’s trip to Glory began while being stoned to an earthly death.
John the Baptist’s trip to glory began while he was being beheaded.
Jesus’ trip to Glory began from a cross, after enduring crucifixion.
All of the disciples but John entered Glory after being martyred. John was exiled.
Paul suffered an earthly blindness, but saw God’s Glory.
And the list goes on. Still want to see God’s Glory?
The chick struggles to get out off the egg.
The caterpillar struggles to exit the cocoon and spread its wings as a butterfly.
Babies come into the world through a narrow dark tunnel, being squeezed and pushed into a new glorious world.
Humans often struggle to leave this earthly body and see Glory.
Jesus is the Perfect Guide for The Glory Road. He has been there Himself. In fact, He still walks it every day, faithfully going with us as we travel.
He knows exactly how far it is and exactly when we will get there. If we stray off course, He guides us back on.
He never leaves us.
He tells us not to be anxious or afraid.
He reminds us we are not lost. We are with Him and He knows where we are at every second.
Besides all that, He knows The Promise of Glory is worth everything we may encounter on this side of Glory.
Paul said,
Let us keep looking to Jesus. He is The One Who started this journey of faith. And He is The One Who completes the journey of faith.
He paid no attention to the shame of the cross. He suffered there because of the joy He was looking forward to.
Then He sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:2
Every time you feel tempted to quit or try to turn around and go back, hear Jesus call you by name. What is He saying?
“The Glory is ahead. I can hardly wait for you to see it!”
Jesus said to His Father,
“Father, I want those you have given Me to be with Me where I am, and to see My Glory, The Glory You have given Me because you loved Me before the creation of the world.”
John 17:24
Keep going. Jesus already told His Father you are coming and when you get there, He plans to announce you before all the company of Heaven, Who will join Him in saying, “Welcome Home to Glory!”
To Him Who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before His Glorious Presence without fault and with great joy—
to The Only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.
Jude 1:24-25
