Today, as we continue in our series on The Body, we will explore the tricky question of why some people are healed and others are not.

Here are the short answers directly from God.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Jeremiah 29:11

God has a Plan.  He knows what it is.  He never promised to give us all the details of His Plan.  He knows The Plans He has for the entire universe, down to the tiniest detail.

We are one of those tiny details.

While He does not promise to give us details, He does promise not to harm us, to prosper us and give us hope and a future.

We might look at our situation and think it does not look good.  If we looked at the ingredient for a cake at any stage before it is baked, we might think, “That looks awful!”  But when it is baked, it will look different and be delicious to eat.

God does not promise every step of healing will look good.  He promises the end result will be good.

Paul said,

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His Purpose.”

Romans 6:28

So God has a Plan.  And even if we do not know how The Plan will look in the future, we can be assured God knows.

We can also be assured He is working all things together to create that Plan not to harm us, but to give us hope and a future.

Can we figure out what His Plan is?  Probably not.  He will give us instructions on a “need to know” basis.  And He decides when we need to know.

Will we understand His Reasons for everything He tells us to do?  No.  He has said plainly.

“For My Thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My Ways,” declares The Lord.

“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My Ways higher than your ways and My Thoughts than your thoughts.”

Isaiah 55:8-9

So let’s go back to the question of why some people are healed and others are not.  First of all, we need to understand everyone will be healed.

However it will happen in God’s Time and in His Way.

The man born blind stayed that way a number of years until Jesus physically healed him.

The woman with an issue of blood suffered many years before Jesus healed her.

Paul suffered with his thorn in the flesh for years and apparently it was never removed on earth.

Some people are healed instantly and miraculously.  Others wait for years before they are healed.  Some are healed through God removing their earthly body completely and giving them brand new healthy heavenly bodies.

Each way of healing is for one purpose.  Jesus said it plainly.

The reason for healing in God’s Way and God’s Time is so

“so that The Works of God might be displayed in them.”

John 9:3

Don’t make your life all about waiting for physical healing.  Make every moment about giving Glory to God and let His Works be displayed in you.

And be assured … whether you get a new body on earth or in heaven, you will be healed!

Paul said,

“There are also heavenly bodies and there are earthly bodies; but the splendor of the heavenly bodies is one kind, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is another!”

1 Corinthians 15:40
