I never met my friend, Barbra’s husband, Q. We lived in different places, so the opportunity never presented itself.
But because Barbara is a talented writer, she has been able to chronicle their life together in such a descriptive way, I feel as if I do know Q.
He has been promoted to heaven now, but it is obvious he also lives on earth within Barbara and the many other people whose lives intersected with his.
Today in the memory of what would have been his 97th birthday on earth, Barbara posted a video of she and Q singing a duet. The love and joy flowed across the net. Neither time nor space could stop it.
The Love they shared that day is continuing to flow on this day. And all who watched got to share in The Joy!
I thought again of what a wondrous thing Love is.
Love finds us, often when we are not looking for it. It sometimes finds us when we thought it could not be found.
It enters the places we thought were closed, sealed, gone, or maybe even undiscovered before.
Love goes there and unearths not only itself, but liberates Joy. Pure unadulterated, silly, giddy, giggling, belly laughing joy!
Love causes us to see ourselves differently. We find what was true all along. We are worthy of Love. We are deserving of Love. We are capable of receiving Love. And we find we can give Love.
Love creates a longing for itself that draws us together. We get used to expressing Love through all the physical ways of earth.
But less we think Love can be limited to just the physical, it keeps surprising us. Indeed, while losing our physical connection is more painful in some ways than childbirth, Love continues to blossom.
It pops up everywhere, tip toeing into our dreams, sneaking into our songs, and popping up in pictures. It hangs out in familiar places. It raises its voice through ours in songs and words.
It lodges itself in memories, precious evidences of love notes left behind in a shared life.
And always, it whispers, “I am with you always and always will be.”
That certain knowledge is the miracle that sustains us through physical partings. Love goes on forever and it is already planning the new adventures ahead.
Love goes on forever!
1 Corinthians 13:8
This song expresses well the infinite mystery and wonder of Love. Today I dedicate it to Barbara and Q.
