On November 9, 1948, my mother stood me up on the grass to take a picture of me on my first birthday.

Much to her surprise, I started walking towards her.  I took my first steps toward the adventures that would follow for the next 76 years.

In July, 2025, it appeared the joy of walking had ended.  I had a severe neurological problem that caused my legs to be weak, one foot numb and serious balance issues, even when being assisted to stand.

Praise The Lord, the problem was identified and corrected with surgery.  Rehabilitation was long and brutal.  But by the end of September, I walked independently again.  By October, I was dancing!

And so as my 78th trip around the sun begins tomorrow, I am filled with gratitude for the many blessings of this life.  There have been significant challenges along the way, but God has brought wonderful gifts even through the difficult times.

If you want to join me in celebrating, think of all the many gifts God has given you and thank Him.  I am thinking of you.  You, my friends, are Gifts to me.

Every time I think of you I thank God for you.

I have joy in my heart every time I ask God to help you.

I thank God for the joy we share in telling the good news from the very first day until now!

Philippians 1:3-5

The pictures of me are from that time I started walking and dancing.  I have a few more steps to practice before I post my current dancing!đŸ˜˜

Happy birthday, Carolyn! I have something similar to you but it’s neurological. Glad to hear of your recovery; may you have many more birthdays! Dave
