One of my favorite childhood memories is the silver Christmas tree we had.  There was a rotating four color light that was next to the tree.  As the light turned, the silver branches came to life with the different colors.

It was carefully packed up every January and sent back to the attic to await its reemergence the following year.

In later years, if one had looked too closely, they would have discovered it looked a bit worn.  Some of the branches had lost their luster.  But it didn’t seem to matter.  That tree was put up so carefully by loving hands, it was still a vision of wonder.

Like its elderly owners, it reflected more and more of heavenly light with less need of earth scrutiny.

The tree was retired eventually.  We children had grown and lived elsewhere.  Our parents rarely went to the attic, especially to haul large things up and down.

But I remembered that tree fondly.  Jay remembered his grandparents had the same silver tree with the rotating light wheel.

We have had a variety of trees over the years.  Our white tree finally fell apart last year.  We have had such a challenging year that we considered foregoing having a Christmas tree this year.

But then I found a silver tree.  No light wheel.  Now modern remote controls that let you select various light options with just a touch!

And Jay, The Love of My Life, was willing to get it and turn what looked like a collection of silver brushes into a beautiful silver tree.

He even added extra lights to increase the sparkle.  Like my childhood tree, it was Love that has magically brought this tree to life.

We are thankful for every moment of Love, Joy and Peace we get to share in this place.  Every light that is lit is our prayer of gratitude to God.

The Light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it!
