When you think of Jesus knowing all about you, how do you feel?  Some of us feel elated to realize He is indeed with us always (Matthew 28:20).  However, some of us experience an Adam and Eve moment, as we feel exposed.  When we think of coming face to face with Jesus, we want to hide!

What do we do when confronted with the full Light of Jesus?  We can either attempt to run … or we can fall at His feet and let that Light eliminate all darkness from our life.  Jesus said He came to bring us Life and that Life to the full!  Let’s peek in on a woman who had an unexpected encounter with Jesus.

The fourth chapter of John tells the interesting story of a Samaritan woman, who encountered Jesus at a well.  Jesus began their interaction by asking her for a drink, but before they went very far into conversation, He was offering her Living Water.  The woman saw the offer from her very earthly vantage point.  She was interested in anything that might save her from having to come to the well every day.

But Jesus saw down into her soul.  She indeed spiritually had gone to many wells and was never satisfied.  Jesus told her to get her husband and come back.   “I have no husband,” she replied.

Jesus then turned on the full Light of His Revelation.  “You are right when you say you have no husband.  The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband.”  In a single sentence, the woman was exposed … all her yearnings for real love … all the searching that ended with an unquenchable thirst that led her nowhere.  Even now, she had given up on marriage.  Nothing in her life ever lasted.

Have you ever felt that way?  You long for something that will satisfy you … but nothing you try … food, drink, lust, relationships with the wrong people, gambling and a host of other distractions … ever seems to satisfy.  You keep looking, but it is simply not there.  You’ve come to a point of even being tired of looking.

Jesus explained to the woman that God is the source of all that satisfies.  He said, “God is Spirit and His worshipers must worship in Spirit and in Truth.”   Jesus would like to tell you the Truth … including truthfully, how He sees you.

The woman acknowledged that Jesus would be coming one day and would make everything clear.  Jesus made it clear with one statement.  He is making that statement to us right now.

I Who speak to you am He!

John 4:26

Jesus offers us Living Water right now.  We don’t have to pretend with Him.  He already knows us.  He has known us from the beginning and been with us in every moment of our life.  He knows everything about us, including the desires of our heart.

You may have felt you were only entitled to a little crumb of His Glory.  He is here to let you know you are His Child and He will share it all with you!  All the love you can hold … so much in fact that it will overflow into the world and He will give you more.  Does He really know you?  He does!

Excerpts from Psalm 139 (Read all of Psalm 139 out loud to be really wowed!)

O Lord, You have searched me and You know me!

You created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

You perceive my thoughts from afar.

Before a Word is on my tongue, you know it completely!

The One Who knows you completely says,

“I have loved you with an Everlasting Love.”

Jeremiah 3:13

(What a wonderful thought!  He knows us completely … and still He loves us … and will keep on loving us forever!)

If you have been looking for the Love of your Life, look no further.

Listen again to Jesus.

I who speak to you am He!
