Yesterday we looked at merriment. Today we take it up a big notch to JOY! If we were having trouble getting a little merry, how on earth will we ever feel JOY? Is Joy really intended for us now on earth? Or is it maybe something we only get a little preview of now and then?
I believe we arrive on earth with a supply of JOY inside. While babies may take a few moments to cry and expand their lungs at birth, those cries are often followed in later days with adorable coos and spontaneous smiles. Young children spend countless hours exploring and discovering things we might find so ordinary, we never even give them a second glance.
Who has a chance to notice, anyway? As adults, we are working to provide for those carefree little ones. And we are playing defensive guard to keep them safe from the evils in the world. Sadly, in our zeal to provide for and protect our children, we seek to make them more like us. And we become less like them.
Jesus has a Big Gift for you. You don’t even have to wait until Christmas to open it. You can open it right now. Jesus said He told us all the things He did so that our JOY might be full! Join me, as we read Chapter Eighteen of Christmas of Discovery! Find your way Home to The Kingdom of Heaven on Earth, where there is JOY!
Hint: Going into the Kingdom will involve going back to where the JOY started. Listen to Jesus’ Words, as recorded in Matthew 18:2-4:
He called a little child to Him and placed the child among them.
And He said, “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children,
you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven!”
