Are you on a Mission from God? Do you know what your Mission is? Whether through a gradual realization or through some highly dramatic event, such as a near death experience, many of us come to feel we are on Planet Earth for a reason. But what is it? The popularity of self help and God help books that deal with finding our purpose confirms many of us long to know our Purpose.
Jesus was a Man on a Mission from God. But Jesus did not just depend upon His being “pre-programed” on how to fulfill His Mission. Luke 2:22 notes, “Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man.” He learned from God and He learned from man.
Jesus lived what He learned. He shared what He learned. He was the first real missionary. Many times when we think of missionaries, we think of those who travel to far away places. Jesus never traveled very far. He started at home, in His own synagogue, among His own people. His first recorded miracle happened at a wedding He was attending with His Mother. He was baptized by His Cousin.
Join me, as we read Chapter Nineteen of Christmas of Discovery! We will look at Jesus’ Mission and we will look at your Mission. Guess what! His Mission and your Mission are the same!
When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said,
“I am The Light of the World!
Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness,
but will have the Light of Life!”
John 8:12
[Jesus said}, “You are the Light of the world!
A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.
Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
In the same way, let your Light shine before others,
that they may see your good deeds
and glorify your Father in Heaven.
