Have you ever felt you were called by God to do something? Perhaps in the glow of the moment, you really believed you could walk on water.
Perhaps you believed you could really be a part of feeding five thousand people.
Maybe you loved discovering you could pray for people and they would be healed.
But then the day came when everything didn’t work like it used to. Perhaps you turned away and looked at the winds and waves too long.
Maybe you studied just a little too long about how improbable it was that a tiny bit of food could heal so many.
Maybe some people were not healed in the way you thought it would happen. Maybe they were healed by being promoted out of their earthly bodies. Maybe you thought this signified failure and death. Maybe you temporarily forgot to celebrate Life in all forms.
No matter how it happened, the day came that you wondered if you had lost The Gifts God once gave you. A tinge of fear that you had lost them was followed by a trace of resentment that God would give you something and then take it back. Does God do that?
No! If God calls you to do something, it will always be your call. And He will give you The Gifts to make it possible to fulfill His Call.
However, He make take you to different environments to use your talents and He may show you how to use The Gifts in new ways.
There is nothing boring about God! While He is ever the same, He is also ever changing. So be open to what He has in mind, moment to moment.
Stop for a moment and think about the dreams that almost bloomed in your heart before you doubted. What did you think you could do before doubt got in the way?
Think of The Gifts you once knew you had. Perhaps it is time to dust them off and let God show you how they can shine again and bring you Renewed Joy!
The seeds God plants are not annuals. They are perennials and they are just waiting for a little watering to come up in the right season!
“So do not lose your confidence. It will bring you a great reward. You need endurance so that after you have done what God wants you to do, you can receive what He has promised.”
Hebrews 10:35-36
“God never changes His Mind when He gives Gifts or when He calls someone.”
