Jay and I taught nursing together for eight years. We were used to grading tests using an answer sheet.
Once when I was puzzling over various events in our lives, I said to Jay, “it doesn’t make sense.”
Without missing a beat, he said, “That’s because you are using the wrong answer sheet.”
Short answer. Profound truth.
Even when things are not the way we want them to be, we believe we know how they “should” be. And when nothing we do moves the dial to our expectation, we exclaim, as I did, “It doesn’t make sense!”
But to The One Who holds the ultimate answer sheet, it all makes sense. We are a tiny part of His Larger Plan and He is working it all out.
But we will not see the answer sheet until we complete the test. That’s the way it works.
And, yes, as this picture demonstrates, there is a different test and answer sheet for each of us!
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
