Sometimes we think we have to go to places far from home to be a missionary. God does call some people to do that and we praise God when they answer His Call.
However, He calls others of us to be in one spot and just let Him direct His Light through us to those who are nearby.
When I taught nursing, our students had patients (residents) in a local nursing home. As a communications exercise, I asked the students to ask their assigned resident what their plans were for the future.
A student, who had a resident who was over 100 years old, asked to be excused from the assignment. She thought her resident could not possibly have plans for the future due to her advanced age.
I didn’t let her off. Reluctantly she asked this lady, who was confined to her bed. With a smile, the lady said, “As long as The Lord permits, I’m going to lay right here and let you learn on me.”
She had learned the Joy of being assigned to God’s Mission Field. Wherever you are, in whatever circumstance, let He Who is The Light of The World shine through you!
Bloom where you are planted!
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds, and glorify your Father in Heaven.
