We are drawn to places where we recognize The Lord visibly at work.

However, we often forget He is always at work, within us and all around us.

Jesus cautioned us not to get hung up on signs, wonders and places themselves.  If anything, they only serve as sign posts or reminders.  They serve as a gentle nudge to us to let Him work more powerfully within us.

Jesus said,

“The Kingdom of God will not come with observable signs.  Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.”

Luke 17:20-21

I have experienced life changing times through various “revivals” in my life.   However, there have also been times when I and others were drawn, not to Jesus, but to the hype that made us believe He was making a special appearance at a certain place and time.

I have talked to many who were touched in special ways by traveling to Israel to “walk where Jesus walked,” as the travel brochure said.  However, they sometime missed that the most recent step they took was also walking where Jesus walked, since He now walks every step with them.

How should we treat the news of a revival in a certain place?

Pray with gratitude that God is in each participant.

Thank Him that He has a Plan for each of them and He is working out that Plan.

Thank Him for fruit that will last far beyond this time.

Thank Him for being present in you every moment.

Ask Him where He wants you to go and what He wants you to do.  Do that.

Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know!

Jeremiah 33:3
