In order to understand how God relates to His human creations, we must accept several important truths.

God is God.  He is totally in charge of The Universe.

He has already set the time each person will arrive on earth and when they will leave earth.

As David said, “All the days ordained for me were written in Your Book before one of them came to be.”

Psalm 139:16

Job said, “A person’s days are determined; You have decreed the number of his months and have set limits he cannot exceed.”

Job 14:5

Therefore, as much as we might want to change God’s Plan, we cannot.  He is God.  We are not.

We will not always understand God’s Plans.  I do not understand suffering and times and circumstances of deaths.  But God told us we would not understand.

God said through the prophet Isaiah, “For My Thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My Ways,” declares The Lord.

“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My Ways higher than your ways and My Thoughts than your thoughts.”

Isaiah 55:8-9

With God there are no “untimely” deaths.  When He decides to move someone off the playing field, He can do it.

Since I do not understand God’s Whole Plan, I may object.  But I have to go back to Truth Number One.  He is God.  I am not.

The next Truth is we do not know what happens between God and any human at what we call the point of death.  We may be sure a person we have judged as evil is going to Hell.

Even though Jesus said specifically not to judge, many people actually hope evil people will go to Hell.  But this is not God’s Will.  He does not want anyone to perish.

So if a person receives God’s Mercy and Grace in the moments of death, we may not know.  But if they do, they may be welcomed into Heaven.

Jesus said,  “There will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.”

So with those truths in mind, what we may see as God’s Punishment is not God just being mean and vengeful.  The flood that wiped out everyone but Noah and his family was not just God’s Wrath.

He moved all those people off the playing field of earth.  He had a Plan for them the same as He had a Plan for those He left on earth.

God cares about all of His Creations.  So yes, He does care deeply about those grieving and suffering on earth.  He may not explain to us why He has done what He did, but He will be present to continue to comfort and guide.

He has promised He has The Plan and it is a Good Plan.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares The Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Jeremiah 29:11
