When loved ones are promoted to Heaven, sometimes there is a feeling that things are not finished.  Our loved ones may be finished, but we are not.

Even when we said everything we wanted to say before their promotion, we want to keep sharing updates on our life.  I long for conversations with my mother.  I want to keep sharing my joys and sorrows with her.

But there are also those things we may not have gotten to say to our loved ones.  Perhaps their earthly exit was quick and unexpected.

Perhaps we had time, but we did not know how to put into words what we wanted to say.

Perhaps we have regrets over things we did say and things we did not say.  Maybe there were things we did not understand then, but we do now and we wish we could talk.

I believe we can talk to them through The Holy Spirit.  I believe we can hear in our spirit what they would say.

We can begin by remembering what they expressed when they were in their earthly body.  We knew them.  We still do.  Many times we may even think “if they were here, I know what they would say.”

So can we communicate with those in Heaven?  Yes.  Step one is simply being accepting of their presence.

We can invite them into our thoughts by sharing memories with others, looking at pictures, watching home movies and many other ways.

My father’s mother died before he met my mother.  So she never met her grandchildren when she was in her earth body.

My father always said he did not know how such things worked, but he believed somehow she could see us and she was happy.

That was part of her joy in her expanded universe of Heaven.  She got to see her children, grandchildren and more from a ringside seat.

Not only did we believe she was happy, we were happy too in feeling her presence.  She and others were part of The Great Cloud of Witnesses Paul described in Hebrews 12:1-2.

Jesus joined all generations.  He talked

with Moses and Elijah on The Mount of Transfiguration.  They had come before Him.

Jesus prayed for the generations to come after Him after He prayed for His Disciples who were with Him in His Present Time.

What did He pray for?

“… that all of them may be one, Father, just as You are in Me and I am in you.”

John 17:21

He wanted us to realize neither time nor space can separate us.  The fact that some of us are dressed in earthly bodies and others are dressed in heavenly bodies does not mean we are separate.

Our loved ones are very near.

There is a way to talk again.  But since they speak a heavenly language now and we still speak an earth language, we need a Helper to translate.

Jesus promised when He was no longer in a physical body, we would still be able to see him, hear him and feel His Presence.

He comes to us in Spirit.  We call Him The Holy Spirit.  Jesus called Him The Helper.   He has access to both Heaven and earth.

Whatever you want to say to those you love in Heaven, you can say to Him.   The Holy Spirit will be happy to connect you.

The Holy Spirit is not only a translator, a helper and a guide, He is also a Teacher.  He will teach you how to listen.  Your loved ones may manifest to you in ways you never expected.

Remember after Jesus’ Resurrection, even those who knew Him well, did not instantly recognize Him.  Something was different.  But when they did recognize Him, what Joy they had.

After my mother died, I grieved.  I prayed.  I told God, “I just want my mother.”

He led me to the scripture,

“As a mother comforts her child,

so will I comfort you.”

Isaiah 66:13

I waited for the comfort.  I was not sure how God would deliver it.  But He is My Creator.  So He knew exactly how to wrap His Gift that would be special for me.

I am a pianist.   I  am also a writer.  But until one very important day, God had never connected those two talents for me.

On that day, deep in grief, I tried to play some familiar hymns my mother had liked.  But I just could not mentally focus enough to play.  I began to move my hands randomly around on the keys.

I glanced at the picture I kept on the piano.  It was a bridge.

Suddenly words came into my thoughts and I realized the words were somehow matching the notes I was playing on the piano.  That day God composed a song through me.

It was my love poem to my mother and she received it.  How did I know?

I closed my eyes as I played the piano.  Almost as in a dream, I was transported to the bridge.

A beautiful white light came toward me.  It was like being in The Presence of pure Love.  It enveloped me, filled me up and lifted me up.  It was the very essence of all Mother had been to me.

Any physical senses I needed on earth were not necessary.  I knew.  I was known.

I stayed in the center of that bridge for quite awhile until I sensed The Light beginning to move away to the other side of the bridge.  I tried to follow, but it was as if an unseen barrier stopped me.

In an instant, I was back at the piano.  The bridge was back as a picture.  And I had the first song of many God would write through me.

I still go to the bridge in my music sometimes, but I have also learned I can talk to Mother in my spirit anywhere, anytime.   She is in my heart.

1 John 3:2 says we will be like Jesus.  So I imagine my mother saying what Jesus said.

I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

The world will not see Me anymore, but you will see Me.

You are in Me, and I am in you!

John 14:18-20
