I have always loved to read. My teen summers in the 60s included frequent trips to the library and books scattered all around my room.
Eye issues some years ago introduced me to audio books. Even when I was able to read again, I enjoyed some audio books.
Alas, the one drawback was they were often read in a monotone by “professional narrators.” They conveyed the content, but seemed to be missing the heart of the message.
Frankly, I was bored listening to just monotone recitation of words. So I was delighted to discover some books were actually being read by the authors themselves with the expression they intended when they wrote the words.
This brought books to a whole new level. It was like being invited inside by the author, who was going to share just with me.
When I started writing books myself, I discovered many interesting things about readers.
Some do not read print books. They do their reading on devices. Computers, Tablets, cell phones.
Some friends very honestly told me they were not readers. They were listeners. We had entered the computer age. If we wanted to reach readers, we writers had to keep up!
Some also told me they preferred listening while they were doing something else. Driving, cooking, walking, running, doing household chores, any number of activities.
A writer could no longer just invite people and see if they would come. The writer had to make themselves available to go into the world of other people, if invited.
So, as we have written more books, we offer them in multiple forms. Our latest book, Sent From Heaven, Why You Are Here, is available from Amazon in both print and ebook.
