It is hard to believe that combined, Jay and I have 103 years as nurses.  (And we are not that old!). We are both RNs.

Between us, we have worked in these areas.

EMS on the street and in ERs

Coronary Care

Medical ICU

Acute Medical Surgical units

Plastics

Opthalmology

Orthopedics

Genitourinary

Neonatal ICU

New Born Nursery

School Nurse in an American School in a foreign country

Acute Care Psychiatry

Long Term Psychiatry

Research Unit for Alzheimer’s, Korsakoff’s Syndrome and Huntington’s Chorea

Long Term Care

Hospice

Between us, we have been staff nurses, nurse managers/program coordinators, mentors, preceptors, research nurses, pioneers in starting new programs and nursing instructors.

We have published in nursing journals and been speakers at conferences.  We were even featured in a television segment about the husband/wife nursing teaching team!

We wrapped up our varied active nursing experiences by teaching together for eight years in the same classroom and clinical sites.

We have been the neighborhood rapid response team upon occasion and now act primarily as Grandma and Poppy nurse consultants for our daughter, son in law and grandson.

Jay is still active in international insulin pumping diabetes support groups.  He communicates with people around the world!

We are thankful God has allowed us to serve in so many places and get to connect with all the people we have.

We are thankful to have been in the company of so many wonderful nurses.  We remember you all and salute you.

We are also thankful for the nurses who have cared for us over the years.  Nurses who become patients have very high expectations.  We know too many back stories!😘

Happy Nurses Week to all you nurses out there.  And if you are not a nurse, think of the ones you know and tell them you appreciate them!

Slight disclaimer — We don’t look like these pictures now, but it is nice to remember when we were just beginning the nursing adventure!😍
