OK, it’s Easter. Why are we even mentioning satan? Didn’t Jesus defeat him? Wasn’t he knocked out at the cross? Satan was defeated. However, he never gives up. Even when the bell has sounded for the end of the fight, he pops back up and says, “Let’s make it best of three! And let’s sweeten the pot. Let’s see how your precious humans do in a round with me!”
Satan has a variety of techniques to use on humans. However, they all lead to one mission and one strategy. Satan’s mission is “Division.” Satan’s strategy is “divide and conquer.”
Satan would like nothing better for you to believe he has gone home in defeat. However, don’t be deceived. Peter, who had himself been deceived, warned us.
Be alert and of sober mind.
Your enemy the devil prowls around
like a roaring lion
looking for someone to devour.
1 Peter 5:8
That sounds scary! What are we going to do? Fortunately James learned the lesson well from Jesus.
Submit yourselves, then to God.
Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
The first step is very important. Submit yourself to God. Remember The One in you! Let Him fight and you simply know Who to cheer for and who to resist. What happens? Satan will flee from who? You! Oh good, so he will be gone, right? For the moment. But remember he’ll be back. He will try until the final bell of history when he is put away for good.
