When we become aware of someone else’s suffering, and all we can pray is, “Thank God that isn’t happening to me or someone I care about,” not only are we self centered, but we also have forgotten The Power of prayer.

We are not called upon to cure all the ills of humanity.  We are called upon to look around, see, care, love and pray to The One Whose Love reaches all.

The question is not “where is God.”  The question is “where is the salt … where is the light?”  Be The Light.  Bring The Life!

Hermann Hesse summed it up well in 1919.

“We kill at every step, not only in wars, riots, and executions.

We kill when we close our eyes to poverty, suffering, and shame.

In the same way all disrespect for life, all hardheartedness, all indifference, and all contempt is nothing else than killing.

With just a little witty skepticism we can kill a good deal of the future in a young person.

Life is waiting everywhere, the future is flowering everywhere, but we only see a small part of it and step on much of it with our feet.”
